Happy Spring!

It's the first full day of Spring. Really. I for one think the calendar may be wrong, because it sure doesn't feel like spring. It's cold. Bitter, even.

I hope everyone had a fun, happy and safe St. Patrick's Day. I spent the evening at Fado's. When I arrived at 6 the line was stretched down the street. Now normally I won’t wait in line for a beer (it’s a matter of principle), but it was St. Patrick’s Day, and practically everything in Fado’s is Irish! The bartenders are, and the bar itself was imported from the Emerald Isle. Many of the revelers were also Irish, and not just for the day.

With me to celebrate were Colin Burke of Crobar (which is on a hiatus until April 14) and Robert Brady, or The Bar Guy as he's known to his friends. They helped me on my mission to discover if my Irish heritage (I'm about a quarter) is focused in my liver and stomach. I'm proud to report that after several pints of Smithwick's, a couple shots of Jameson's, and a traditional Irish breakfast (for dinner), my liver passed the test. Amazingly I awakened Saturday morning, while not exactly bright eyed and bushy tailed, with no hangover. Thank goodness this holiday only comes once a year. I'm not sure even my liver could handle being tested on a more frequent basis!
