Escape From Earth

Chicago's Escape From Earth debuts their full-length album, Who Do I Have To Kill?, the follow up to 2004's Three Seconds East EP. Rae DiLeo (Filter, Veruca Salt) returns to co-produce with lead singer Chris Sernel. The result is a collection of ultra-catchy alterna-pop songs that are hard hitting but not overpowering. The band has been compared to artists such as Foo Fighters, Sugarcult, and Butch Walker, but still maintain a sound distinctly characteristic only of themselves. "I really think there's something for everyone on this record," Sernel says. "And in most cases, I think people will enjoy listening to the record front-to-back."

Escape From Earth has experienced success touring across the Midwest and other regions with bands such as Switchfoot, Taproot, Hanson, and Quietdrive, as well as regularly playing sold out shows at Metro, House of Blues, and other venues in Chicago. In Fall 2005, Escape From Earth was unanimously chosen out of 10,000 bands to win the grand prize of a contest sponsored by Coca-Cola and MTV whereby the band was featured in a commercial which aired on MTV in prime time for a month. The band was also featured with a full page of press in the Dec/Jan 2006 issue of Teen People.

Cupcake Records was formed in January 2006 by the band to release their new album. "Why sit around waiting to see what some guy in LA or New York thinks about our band," Sernel explains. "Let's sign ourselves and put out our own record. We maintain 100% control. We do it ourselves and bring the music to our friends and fans directly!"
