Otter Petter is the five-piece rock outfit you'd hate to take off. Formed in Chicago in 2005, Otter Petter's members create their own unique sound by blending the sugary pop confections of artists like Matthew Sweet with the more obtuse constructions of indie-rock bands like Death Cab For Cutie. Otter Petter's members include brothers Michael (guitar, vocals) and William Pritchard (drums), Jojo Yang (keyboards and vocals), Raphael Dussaussoy (guitar), and Alex Barandi (bass).
2006 has been an exciting year for Otter Petter. The band was chosen by the Chicago Tribune as one of 10 bands to compete in their "Metromix Rock 'n' Vote" contest. Readers voted Otter Petter as one of the four winning bands to play a show at Metro in Chicago. The band was also chosen to be part of the Midwest Music Summit in Indianapolis and the International Pop Overthrow festival in Chicago. Otter Petter has been featured on CLTV television, on WXRT radio, in the weekly entertainment magazine Newcity Chicago, and on the website musicOMH.com. The band has played at many notable Chicago music clubs, including Metro, Double Door, Martyrs', Beat Kitchen, and Subterranean.
Otter Petter released a self-titled 5-song EP in 2005. The band is currently working on their first full-length CD for release in early 2007.
