From the band:
Doug Moore & D. Todd Schultz founded Sleeping Sergio in early 2005 in the often cluttered, always dark apartment of Todd's in Chicago. Two guitars, an electric piano & a handful of harmonicas was all they had. They practiced, wrote & recorded a demo, & practiced some more until they started playing local shows in the fall of 2005. After much searching, they found drummer Jonathan "Bev" Beverly & bassist Mike "Doc" Grosso in January 2006. Writing began soon afterward & three months later their first EP was produced in April/May of 2006. Their first show was booked in May, & the boys played the hell out of it. They have continued to play exciting shows throughout the summer of 2006. Previous Booking has included many notable Chicago clubs such as the Elbo Room, Excalibur, Tonic Room, Underground Lounge, & Subterranean.
The name originates from a paroled felon, close friend & insomniac roommate of Todd's, named Sergio. Having done federal time in three countries (Puerto Rico, Mexico & the US), Sergio attributes his extraordinary life of crime to an insomnia inspired insanity beginning at the age of nine. Hence the name "Sleeping Sergio" came to fruition.
Sleeping Sergio pushes the envelope in the rock genre. They convey honesty in art through music. Sleeping Sergio is: Todd: vocals & cutting lyrics, guitars, keys; Doug: guitar, pusher of peddles to the max; Bev: sick beats; Doc: the doctor of the bass
