Back to Restaurant ReviewsBin 36As you walk into Bin 36 you step into a wine lover's gift shop. Glasses, decanters, wine stoppers, and of course wine, glorious wine in the several "bins" that the restaurant is named for are there for the taking (with cash or credit, of course). The restaurant itself is bright, with light tan seats, white table cloths, silver chairs and a two story ceiling over the oval bar in the center.Bin 36 features contemporary American cuisine with a heavy emphasis on seafood and a raw bar is available throughout. Each menu item has a corresponding wine recommendation. A great way to try several wines is to order one of the many wine flights. Four different tastings are placed in front of you on a small placemat with areas to make notes and pencils are provided all around the bar. They also give you a sheet with whimsical descriptions of each wine. A fun culinary experience is to order a wine flight and a cheese flight and mix and match until you find the perfect pairing. Classes are also offered for $35 & $40. These last two hours and cover everything from learning how to describe wines to how to taste it instead of just drink it to tasting different varietals. The second Wednesday of every month they offer a walk-around wine tasting with canapes for $25. All in all, Bin 36 is a wonderful place to learn about wine. It's unpretentious and the staff is happy to guide the neophyte through the sometimes mystifying world of fermented grapes. It's also good for "cork dorks" as they offer a wide selection of varietals and all of those must-haves in the gift shop. P.S. They also offer free valet parking at lunch Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm.
