Gino's East
map

Chicago is known for several things - rabid sports fans, blues, incredible and varied architecture and some of the best museums in the world - and deep dish pizza.

Gino's East is definitely one of my favorite places to get a slice o' the pie. Loads of sauce, so much cheese a cut piece looks like a mudslide, and a cornmeal crust that's not too soft and not too hard. The sauce is tasty without being overwhelming, and the toppings are generous.

Deep dish seems to take forever when your hungry, so I recommend getting a house salad or the toasted ravioli. One of the fun things about Gino's is that if you get bored waiting, you can read the writing on the wall (literally) or create your own ode to the pizza pie.
